This homemade cranberry sauce is not only the simplest dish to prepare for Thanksgiving but it’s also one of the most flavorful. It makes all the difference on the holiday table and totally worth making, as opposed to grabbing some out of a can. Although store-bought will do (as Ina Garten would say), this method really ties everything together. Not only is it much more delicious, but it’s also a healthier alternative and super easy to make. It requires just a little bit of time and is even great to use on a leftover Thanksgiving sandwich.
Why is cranberry sauce a Thanksgiving staple?
If you’re wondering why cranberry sauce is so popular during Thanksgiving, it’s because it compliments all the rich and savory flavors of the meal. The tartness of the cranberry balances the decadent dishes like stuffing, gravy, and buttery turkey.
How long can cranberry sauce be refrigerated and frozen for?
Cranberry sauce can be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks and frozen for up to 3 months. This makes it great for making ahead during the holidays so that you don’t have to worry about same-day preparations.
