Classic Roman Potato Pizza

This Classic Roman Potato Pizza is one of my favorite pizza recipes that’s inspired by my time in Rome. It’s packed with flavor and so easy to make! It’s a classic Italian dish that you have to try for yourself! Hope you love it as much as we do!

How To Make Classic Roman Potato Pizza

Ingredients

  • 12 to 14 ounces pizza dough
  • 1 to 2 medium Yukon gold or red potatoes, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup low moisture mozzarella, freshly grated
  • ⅛ cup parmesan, freshly grated
  • 1 to 2 sprigs fresh rosemary, chopped for garnish
  • 4 to 6 ounces spicy Italian sausage, casings removed
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • All-purpose flour as needed

Step-By-Step Recipe Method

  1. Preheat the pizza oven to 650 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Add sausage and break into smaller pieces. Cook for approximately 3 to 4 minutes or until browned on all sides. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, add thinly sliced potatoes, 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until evenly coated and set aside.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, stretch dough into a 12” circle.
  5. Add mozzarella, parmesan, potatoes, sausage, and a light drizzle of olive oil.
  6. Bake for 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the Indoor Pizza Oven and sprinkle with fresh rosemary and flaky sea salt.
  8. Slice it up and enjoy!

Tips

  • Remove the pizza dough from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature.
  • After slicing the potatoes, soak them in water and then pat them dry to remove any excess moisture.
