My husband and I completed our remodel in October and moved in shortly thereafter. We quickly found out that furnishing an entire house was a completely different process than a one bedroom apartment… silly us for thinking it would be a piece of cake (and inexpensive). Although it’s been quite the undertaking, I have loved every bit of it thus far. We still have soooo much to do but we’ve starting filling our space with some home decor finds that I’m loving. Our plan was to start with the spaces in which we’d be spending the most time. The three areas we have been focusing on primarily have been the kitchen, living room, and dining room. Other than bed frames and mattresses, we’re leaving the bedrooms for last. It’s been hard for me not to tackle everything at once but in hindsight, I think taking the decor process slow is most ideal. One of my top pieces of advice in relation to this would be to not rush it, especially when deciding on a high ticket item that you will most likely be surrounded by for the next few years. While building our home we went with a very simple and modern design and have relied on home decor finds to really warm it up and make it cozy.
Here are some of my current home decor favorites that we’ve purchased so far, along with a few I’m planning on purchasing. Happy home decor shopping! Everything pictured in this post is linked. If you have any questions let me know in the comments below!
- We bought this entry console during a West Elm sale a couple months back and have been loving it. It’s super simple and the shade of wood is perfect in my opinion. The top drawers are also great for keys and storage!
- These white ceramic vases are also from West Elm. They have all kinds of shapes that you can choose from.
- When I saw this dough bowl at Amber Interiors I knew I couldn’t pass it up. It’s the perfect home decor accent for an entryway or coffee table. We purchased the medium in store, but I linked the large from online.
- Love these ceramic beads to drape over a bowl or books.
- I went wild with coffee table books (as you’ll see as you continue reading…). Aside from Amber Interiors, I love finding them on Amazon and at used book stores. I love the neutral colors and design of this one.
- Originally, I wanted to go with wood but I am SO glad we decided on this concrete dining table from CB2. I love the contrast it provides against the wood floors and vintage rug. We choose the large size but they also have a smaller version that’s hundreds of dollars less!
- Here is the matching bench for one side of the table. We have yet to decide on chairs for the other side! This is the smaller version of the bench.
- We found this vintage rug at this store in Pasadena, CA and could not be happier with it. I love the texture and muted tones.
- We purchased our living room rug at the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market. They have a large selection of vintage rugs as well; we loved the light colors in this.
- We love our sectional from Living Spaces! It’s comfy, cozy, and casual.
- We purchased our oak coffee table from Restoration Hardware. I love that it’s natural wood without a sheen or finish. One major tip when shopping here is to join their membership program, it costs about $100 but it saves you so much more in the end. We have also found a few really great items at their outlets!
- I love this knit throw from Target, it’s perfect for a sofa or bed and matches just about anything.
- This is my favorite candle of all time! I love the Santal 33 fragrance for myself, and their home scent Santal 26 is amazing as well. It’s a pricey item but one that I utilize as decor as well. It also makes a great gift as you can personalize the label in store (and at some Nordstrom locations).
- I love the cover of this coffee table book. We always display it on the top.
- We purchased this recycled metal vase from West Elm and can’t wait for it to arrive. I chose the medium but they have a variety of sizes.
- We love this pouf from CB2 for extra seating in the living room. It’s currently on sale!
- One of my favorite books for the home.
- I found this decorative basket at World Market. I have also found some others at West Elm that I really like.
- If you don’t have this diffuser already, IT’S A MUST! This is the best smelling one that I have ever found. It’s soft, earthy, yet not too overwhelming. The scent I get is called Lost City (white) and it also comes in a candle. I always want my home to smell like this.
- I purchased our faux fiddle fig in store at Home Goods but have seen some really great options like this at World Market.
- We just ordered this black circular mirror from Wayfair and plan to put it up in our entryway.
- We purchased these bar stools during a West Elm sale as well. We like that they’re sleek and comfy. We chose brown to warm up the space but they also have a really pretty charcoal option.
- LOVE this pastry slab from Crate & Barrel. I’ve even used it for a large cheese board and it worked out great!
- I purchased these canisters for the kitchen that double as home decor.
- We purchased this rug in 5″x8″ for our office space. It has warmer tones in real life (as opposed to the picture). I love the look of the woven material. An added bonus: it’s 20% off at West Elm right now!
- I found this mirror at Target a couple year ago and we plan to put it in our office or a guest bedroom. I love the antique gold frame.
- This is one of the most practical purchases we’ve made so far. We love the kitchen runner we chose. It is so comfortable to stand on!
- Unique wine and champagne glasses! I like that they’re not the traditional round glasses.
- I love keeping this cookbook in our kitchen.
- We purchased a set of these glasses to display on our floating shelves (and to use of course)!
- I like stacking a few of these on our floating shelves as well.
- This seagrass cage carafe is really cute to place on top of a stack of books.
- Aside from the West Elm diffuser, this is my next favorite. It smells like a real grapefruit and comes in a candle as well.
- I was lucky enough to attend the book-signing for Bibliostyle and to meet the author, Nina Freudenberger. I loved the story behind it and couldn’t agree with the message more – books truly make a house a home.
- We purchased this rectangular mirror for our powder room. I love the gold detailing on it. We used it vertically but you can choose either way. I also found a similar circular option that’s super cute!
- Lastly, I love this candle not only for the smell but also for the pop of gold it adds to any room. It’s on sale for a limited time!
