Hi guys, what a crazy time we’re living in… I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy, and staying home if you have the luxury of doing so. I have been cooped up for a little over a week and wanted to share these activities that have been keeping me sane along with some projects I plan to tackle. Here are my top 10 ways to keep busy during quarantine.
-
Try New Recipes – This has been one of my favorite ways to pass the time, and let’s be honest, eating is the most exciting part of the day. I’ve also used this time to experiment and come up with some new meals of my own during quarantine. It has been a lot of fun to get creative in the kitchen and enjoy some new recipes.
Get Outside – Nothing has helped me more than getting outside every so often for some fresh air and exercise. I’ve made a point of going on quick walks around the neighborhood and utilizing our backyard for yoga, stretching, and sunning if the weather allows. And for those of you who do have a garden, get out there and enjoy! I believe that staying active is so important for both our physical and mental health considering this major adjustment.
Focus on Self-Care – How often have you said to yourself “I would do a mask, meditate, take a bath, etc. but I don’t have enough time”? This is an opportunity to catch up on all of that self-care and do something each day that makes you happy. This has helped me keep calm amidst the stressful times we’re experiencing. I’ve also tried to ramp up all of my immunity supplements and healthy habits. Here are items I highly recommend:
Deep Clean Your House or Apartment – As much as I hate to admit it, I don’t do this often enough. I clean regularly, but deep clean, not so much… This is a great time for a fresh start and nothing feels better than a clean home.
Organize! Organize! And Organize some more – This is probably one of my favorite things to do (aside from cleaning my closet). It’s a great time to revamp your pantry, bathroom drawers, makeup drawers (this will take me an hour in and of itself…), closets and garage. All of the things I usually put off due to time restraints… If you’re anything like me, this will help to clear your mind.
Create a Tik Tok – I mean…why not? If you don’t want to make videos it’s still pretty entertaining to watch all of the creativity going around during the quarantine! My husband and I created one and it was surprisingly fun.
Get Dressed Up For a Night In – Whether you’re living with a significant other or want to have a virtual girls night, get dressed up for it! This has helped me retain a sense of normalcy and gets me out of sweats approximately once a week haha.
Virtual Coffee Date or Happy Hour – This has been so much fun to do! Face Timing family and friends has really helped us stay connected while practicing social distancing. And who couldn’t use a glass of wine?
Update Your Living Space – I’m sure we could all use a little change of scenery right now. Utilize this time to rearrange some of your furniture and decor! I for one could spend hours on a couple of shelves… make It a fun and creative project with some music playing!
Spread Kindness – Last but definitely not least, spread as much kindness as possible during this difficult time. Thinking of others is the most important role we can play in making a true difference. Whether it be dropping off groceries to parents and elderly to keep them away from crowds, donating masks/supplies to medical establishments, baking for a neighbor or simply checking in on your loved ones – every little bit helps.
I hope this was helpful! I know these activities have helped me focus on things that are in my control rather than dwell on what’s not. Is there anything else you’ve been doing during this time? I’d love to hear how you’ve been keeping busy during this quarantine!
