Patio Tree Reveal

Patio Wilsonii Olive Tree

After getting so many awesome suggestions via Instagram, we FINALLY decided on some trees for our built-in patio planters. You can watch the whole video of our patio tree reveal here. We ended up choosing Wilsonii olive trees because they are low maintenance, fruitless (which means they don’t make a mess, attract bugs, or produce pollen), and are difficult trees to kill (which was important for me since I tend to have the worst luck with that). We also love the shade of green and Mediterranean vibe that they’ve added to our backyard.

We ordered some affordable patio furniture and plan to incorporate a banana palm in a planter as well. Our patio should be completely finished in the coming weeks and we can’t wait to share! Here are some of the most popular suggestions we received and that we’re now thinking of placing in other areas of the backyard:

  • Banana Palm
  • Dwarf Lemon
  • Guava
  • Fig
  • Ginkgo Biloba (Male)
  • Arbutus Marina
  • Kumquat
  • Feijoa Sellowiana
  • Camellia
  • Peach
  • Juniper
  • Plum
  • Large Succulents
  • Herb Garden

Since we were looking for two trees to be on both sides of the patio steps, we wanted them to be like twins to keep it as cohesive as possible. Fortunately, we found two that looked very similar and they were in 24 inch boxes, standing at around 6 feet high.

What do you think of our patio tree reveal? I’d love to hear what your favorite trees for landscaping are! You can also check out the rest of our home renovation here.
