Hearty Steak and Potatoes

hearty steak and potatoes recipe winter dinner meal

In my opinion, nothing pairs better with delicious wine than Hearty Steak and Potatoes + a light salad. And of course, I had to pair it with one of my favorite cabernet sauvignons! This hearty recipe is perfect for a cozy date night in (so fun to cook together!) or for entertaining. It’s sure to impress and the best part, it’s surprisingly simple!

Steps:

Steak

1. Pat steaks dry with a paper towel and leave at room temperature for 30 minutes.

2. Season the filet with a generous amount of salt and pepper.

3. Add butter and rosemary sprigs to a cast iron skillet and heat over medium high heat. Move the butter around to prevent burning.

4. Add the filets and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side while coating the steaks in the melted butter.

5. Carefully place the cast iron skillet into the oven at 425 degrees for 5-6 minutes for a medium rare steak.

6. Transfer onto a cutting board and let rest while using the drippings in the skillet to make the sauce.

Potatoes

1. Toss potatoes in olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

2. Roast at 425 degrees for 30 minutes until golden brown.

3. Add the garlic, rosemary, additional olive oil, salt, and pepper to taste.
