Homemade Spiked Eggnog

If you’ve never tried making homemade eggnog, NOW is the time! I love how festive it is and it’s great with or without the booze! It’s so creamy and has just the right amount of sweetness & holiday spice. Perfect for a Christmas Eve drink and great for entertaining for the family to enjoy!

What You'll Need:

+ 5 Egg Yolks

+ 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream

+ 2 cups Whole Milk

+ 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar (depending on desired sweetness)

+ 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon

+ 1/2 tsp. Freshly Grated Nutmeg

+ Splash of Vanilla Extract

+ Pinch of Salt

+ 2/3 cup Dark Rum (you can also use bourbon)

+ Garnish with additional Nutmeg and Cinnamon Stick

Steps:

1. 1. In a large bowl, combine egg yolks and sugar, whisk until light yellow and smooth.

2. Combine milk, cream, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and bring to a very slow simmer over medium-high heat.

3. Begin to temper the eggs by slowly adding a spoonful at a time of the hot milk mixture while whisking quickly.

4. Transfer combined mixture back to stovetop and continue whisking on medium heat. Do this for a few minutes until you feel the mixture begins to thicken.

5. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract and rum. Transfer into a pitcher, cover, and chill in the fridge until cold. Serve and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.
